The 3 Legged Thing – Pro 2.0 Charles Tripod & AirHed Pro – Darkness is an incredibly stable tripod that’s ideal for landscape, astrophotography, studio work, and more. It is quick and easy to set up with 3-section legs and a single section centre column. Its aerospace-grade magnesium alloy construction makes it lightweight and durable, and it boasts an impressive 18:1 load to weight ratio. It has a robust 88-pound load capacity and a maximum height of 76.4″ yet weighs only 5.38 pounds and reverse-folds to a compact 24″.
Modular and versatile, the Charles 2.0 offers many different configurations all from a single tripod. Its 3 detachable legs enable conversion to monopod or tabletop tripod. Three individually adjustable leg angles allow use on uneven terrain, and the removable / reversible centre column means that photographers can shoot from above or right down at ground level. It is easy to take apart for maintenance and cleaning, and the unique parallel leg lock and cap design prevents accidental disassembly. The patented Tri-mount plate includes a double-ended mounting bolt with 3/8″-16 and 1/4″-20 threads, plus multiple mounting points, making it easy to mount a variety of tripod heads or other accessories.
The included AirHed Pro ball head can be quickly swiveled, angled, fully tilted, or returned to its upright position. Under the primary locking knob is a panoramic base with locking knob, which allows the head to rotate 360°. The included QR-Octa quick release plate can be attached to the integrated clamp at the top of the head by tightening or loosening the clamp’s knurled, locking knob. The plate has dual retaining screws are included on the underside of the plate to prevent the plate from accidentally sliding off the ball head when the clamp is opened.
