Not One, But Two EXPEED 6 Image Processors
The most significant upgrade in the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II is the use of processing technology to drive the cameras. Each camera packs a processing punch thanks to now housing dual EXPEED 6 Image Processors. Processing performance hums along with up to three times faster buffer capacity than the previous generation.
Also, the new generation boasts improved autofocus and eye detect functions for both humans and animals. Plus, the eye AF works within a wide-area zone in both stills and video shooting. In a bid to minimise viewfinder blackout, these cameras feature improved EVF performance and visibility during high-speed continuous shooting.
Creative Content With The Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II
But the upgrades don’t stop there! The Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II also offer enhanced features for creative photography and videography. For example, they feature a new multiple exposure mode where images can be taken consecutively and stitched together in-camera. Or, you can select from a range of previously taken photos via the retouch menu.
Further to this, macro photography will rejoice. The new focus shift shooting mode is ideal for macro photographers as the camera captures a series of images and incrementally shifts focus. In post-processing, you can focus stack the series to create a single sharp picture with more significant in-focus elements.

New Batteries and Battery Grip
Both the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II can use the new NB-N11 Power Battery Pack and Vertical Grip. It is the first time any Nikon mirrorless camera has been able to utilise such an accessory. When powering either camera, you can use existing Nikon EN-EL15 batteries. However, Nikon recommends using the newer EN-EL15C battery. By doing so, you can capture more images per charge. Plus you can power the camera externally via a USB-C cable making it ideal for live streaming, time-lapse or studio work.
The NB-N11 Power Battery Pack and Vertical Grip houses two EN-EL15C batteries providing 1.9x more battery performance. Also, the battery closest to the door is hot-swappable, so you can keep replacing the battery for longer shooting times. The MB-N11 also features an additional USB-C port. By utilising this feature, the Z6 II or Z7 II can communicate via software while the main USB-C charges the batteries.
